Patriot Volleyball 2010 Season!!

Thank you to ALL of the players and parents who made CPA's first ever all day tournament a success. The support was evident. We had wonderful food, great signs, many helping hands and it was such a wonderful day. The four teams were great competitors and the pool play was neck in neck with each team being separated by one or two points. Bracket play was exciting and the CPA Patriots gave it their all and took first in the tournament!!!

I am so proud of each and every player on the team. Every young lady took their job as a teammate serious and everyone did a job, put their hearts and spirit together and with a combination like that, success is sure to follow.

We have a busy week ahead with games and practices and our all day JV tournament on 10/02. I am excited to give the JV girls an opportunity to see what tournament play is all about.

WOW...what an amazing start to the kick off season Gold/Blue Tournament. I am so very proud of my Varsity players, you came together as a team and not only showed off your true colors, but your true skill!

Please note there is NO practice Tuesday due to heat and no air in the facility.

Our first required practice/meeting is tomorrow! All players need to be there!

Please remember to take a minute and look at this blog for practice and game schedules/times. I have posted everything on the blog in order to avoid sending several different texts, emails, and individual phone calls.

Also, the full fall schedule is on MaxPreps under CPA. Please note ALL paperwork and fees are due along with physicals by mid August. If you have any questions and or concerns please let me know.

The courts will be open next week to all JV/Varsity CPA players from 6:30
PM-8:00PM, July 19th-July 22nd. I am running a clinic/private lessons and if any player would like to come and get some extra court time in, please do so!!!!

A special thanks to John and Fran Blackledge for willing to work the T-Bones game this week for the benefit of our team and CPA!

Also another special thanks to Meghan Ward and Lindsey Grosch for helping this week with a clinic for young players!!! Don't forget we are planning a team party in August and practices start in August as well. I know some of you are still traveling and some still have summer work schedules to finish up, but if possible everyone needs to be at every practice! (If you are going to miss a practice starting in August, please make sure I am aware of those missed dates ahead of time!)

Thank you to my two Varsity players...Meghan Ward and Niki Casemier for helping out and lending a teaching hand this past week at the Get Focussed Kids Volleyball Camp, 2010. We had 20 4th grade girls and Niki & Meghan were a huge help and wonderful Christian leaders! Thank you for taking time out of your summer to help out our youth. The best way to learn, is to teach.

It's that time again! We are starting to gather for open gym sessions and conditioning!

WOW, now that's a team....

Our Wichita Midwest Invitational Tournament was fantastic! We did the best job we have done all season in so many ways!

First, we had fun! The road trip was silly and sure gave us some good laughs. The hotel stay was even more fun and gave the girls such great memories I hope they cherish for a long time! Moms driving slow, fast, the wrong way...two hour trips to Taco Bell..all to end up at Burger King! Kevin in the pool...keys that never worked, silly string and the list goes on and on!

We faced teams we had never played before and we were unsure how to size up our competition given they were unknown teams to us. We played our hearts out! It took us only one game to wake up and know we had to start off with a bang and keep it going...we did just that! We swept our first day of games against three teams. The list of MVP's kept growing.

Lindsey served 9 serves in a row that could not be returned!
Megan Witazsak served us 17 in a row that could not be returned!
Beth played with such heart and never stopped supporting us!
Everyone was so flexible and everyone was willing to play any position once Niki was injured! The Patriots showed the most teamwork and heart I had seen all season. Everyone was positive, everyone encouraged and everyone worked together for the benefit of the TEAM! Beth and Brittney, without you two we could NOT have done it! Our fear of going with a short roster came true, but so did the Patriots! We came alive and finished the Friday night games with a killer of a win!!!

We started off Saturday with the same kind of bang...we met up with Applewood who is an amazing team. They have played together for twelve years, but we gave them a run for their money! They won the first game, we won the second! The final game went to 15, and we played hard and the final score was 11-15. We showed so much character, spirit and skill! We took 2nd place!!!!!!!!!!

What a great way to end our season!
Thank you again to all the parents that drove, stayed, prayed, brought food etc..we could not have done it without ANY of you! Niki came back to play in Saturdays games!

Wichita Tournament

Our season comes to end with the Midwest Invitational Varsity tournament in Wichita Kansas! This will be a great set of matches and a great time for our entire team to reflect, have fun and raise the spirit of our already great team.

I thank all the parents and players who are committed to this team and each other. If everyone failed to commit, we would not have a team. For those players who have never missed a practice or game, I thank you, the team thanks you. To my players who never just walked out on a game or a huddle, thank you. That is a true sign of respect for yourself, your teammates and me. For those of you who were not afraid to be you, I thank you. For those of you who offered support and honesty, I thank you!

For those parents who were willing to focus on your own daughter and improving them for the better of the team, I thank you. For those parents who cheered on all the players despite where their daughter stood in the line-up, I thank you, the players thank you!

Being part of a team is about the we, not the me. I often mentioned to my players if you alone want all the glory, play tennis. If you alone want to blame others for your own errors don't be on my team. As all families do, we too had growing pains. Those growing pains turn into lessons learned for individuals and for the team. The lessons learned on a court are lessons players take forward. How to work with others, how to communicate, how to make errors, and respect.

Cair Paravel...

We put up a great fight against Cair Paravel on their Senior Night!! We showed great fire, but ended the first game 23-25. Senior Kari Dunn took a knee injury and was out the rest of match during the second game. We had a few injured players, playing with hurt and heart!

The third game of the match ended 24-26 and Cair Paravel pulled off the win...I am so proud of Kelsey Dallimore who stepped up and played full rotations for Kari Dunn.

During the games that Kari was able to play she pulled of a 100% serving average!

We gave the fans and our opponents, Faith Christian Academy, our best in the five matches we played against them Friday night! We won two games, they won two games and we finished them off with a final match winning 15-9.

Setter Junior Jessy Blackledge served with an average of 94%!!
Outside hitters and Sophomores Meghan Ward and Niki Casemier had over 92% kill averages!

Players like Junior Sarah Madsen and Senior Lindsey Grosch had fantastic digs and right net saves to keep our volleys going! Senior Kari Dunn and Sarah Madsen blocked several of FCA's hits! Junior Megan Witaszak had a front row average of 98%! Way to go!!!!

We played well as a team! We were cheered on by our JV stars Kelsey Dallimore, Kristen Bauer, Beth Eason and Mekaiah Johnson. Our fan base is growing! The CPA guys are realizing just how fun and exciting watching a close match with the CPA Lady Patriots can be.

Senior Night....

Senior Night was a great night for all who came! We honored our seniors and their parents!
It was AWESOME! Thank you to all that came, supported, helped, and celebrated with us.
We had an amazing spirit in our gym and a hunger for a great game more than any other match!!!

Seniors who attended, Lindsey Grosch and Kari Dunn; you two are amazing, thank you.
Thank you to ALL the lady Patriots and parents who cheered us on.

A special shout out to the CPA soccer guys, cross country and basketball guys. You made a huge difference in the spirit of that gym! You cheered us on and played a great game against us, we appreciate you so much. We will return the support!

Our team played on point, winning against Bishop Seabury the hosts of the Dig Pink event. We won 25-16 and 27-25!

Our JV team played two great matches against ACE and Southeast at Central High School on Tuesday. I am so proud of all of them! They worked as a team and did a fine job! Kristen Bauer, a freshman #18 served fantastic over 8 points in a row!

Junior Kelsey Dallimore #15 was our setter (first time setting) and rocked it out!

Way to go team! There was no me in these girls, all we! Way to go.

The Patriots finished off Varstiy Seabury in a two win victory tonight! In the first game Sarah Madsen finished off the win 25-19 with 4 serves in row, 2 aces. The second game was an exciting, 25-22 win!

Meghan Ward had 23 assists, and Megan Witaszak "Witty" had 22! Kari Dunn had an center kill and a block!

Our second match against Varsity Midland was no less of a thrill. Although we lost the match we won the second game 25-18. The winning game was 21-25 with Midland taking the match, but our plays were fantastic. Niki Casemeir had a block and served a total of 9 aces, with a serving average of .952%. Lindsey Grosch had 4 kills, and Meghan Ward 10! Way to go Patriots!

I am proud of the team tonight!
Our biggest fan: Chelsey Eggers, she did the "twist and shout" on every slam hit and ace serve.

Our smallest player was by far the biggest last night! Lindsey Grosch proved that she has a secret weapon or two! She hits both left and right in front row!

At just over 5 foot (give or take an inch or two...) Setter and Opposite Senior Lindsey showed true spunk and leadership against LSCC. She hustled, a quality that when found in a player, as a coach is worth rewarding. (As a ball went into the bleachers on the opposing teams court, ONLY Lindsey hustled from the other side of the court to retrieve the ball, not even the opposite team player who was about to serve the ball.)

To know her and coach her is to know a true firecracker! Way to go Lindsey.
